- When:
- 31 Jul - 1 Aug 10.30 h - 17.00 h
- Where:
- Brighton
- Category:
- Seminars and Workshops
Description
Sword, and the other Tai Chi weapons sabre and spear, may seem an unusual study in modern times. The purpose, as with all Tai Chi, is to develop martial skills by refining chi and consciousness. The extra intricacy and precision required to handle a weapon well whilst using the same internal process as for all Tai Chi helps to extend and strengthen the body, further energetic awareness, and bring clarity to the mind and intention.
The third in the 5 Section series of forms which is our foundation curriculum, this form teaches not only how to swing a sword about, it will also give you greater accuracy, focus, awareness of your own space and a deeper understanding of stepping, stance, timing and rhythm. We will be training in traditional sword drills as well as the form over this weekend - over later seminars we will focus more on the drills and skills leading to free fencing.
The next weapons seminar will be a Sabre seminar on the 2nd/3rd October, teaching the Traditional Yang Style sabre form and training drills (great for all round conditioning).
