Tai Chi Chuan and the Code of Life
Let me say right at the start that this is not your average book on tai chi. Graham undertakes the ambitious project of attempting to make connections between Tai Chi, the I-Ching and DNA coding. He has a strong foundation for this study based on his own knowledge as a long time tai chi teacher from a good lineage and his background as a Jungian psychotherapist.
Does he succeed? Well for me it has the feel of a book that is trying too hard to make a case for a connection that may or may not exist. Undoubtedly there are parallels and the comparison throws up some interesting insights but it leans too heavily on the work of one scientist who is referred to thoughout the book.
Did I enjoy reading it? Yes it helps to open the mind to the wider issues and there are some intuitive examples of the different energies used in tai chi. After reading it am I any the wiser? Well not much. Is it the fault of the book or the reader? Probably my own lack of understanding as this book is way too theoretical for the average reader.
